Hong Kong

We have established a strong client relationship with the overseas ex- pat community, most especially in Hong Kong and the Middle East. Much of this has evolved through local recommendation from satisfied private and corporate clients, as well as through relocation agencies who continue to receive sound endorsements of our work.

Digital photography and internet communication have ensured a close working relationship can be maintained through all aspects in progressing these projects from inception through to completion when being overseas makes a local hands on involvement less practical to achieve.

I am delighted to be returning to Hong Kong once again, this time at the kind
request of several clients I had met, and whose projects I have since worked on
after my last visit in June 2009.

It is therefore appropriate that the main focus will be firstly to thank all, and
then share the journey from inception to completion of several projects and, in
particular, the role of establishing and maintaining our close relationship in
managing these projects from afar.

I am grateful that most clients, whom I now consider to be good friends, will be
present, as indeed I hope will you, through their kind support and
encouragement in circulating this invitation.

Their projects include the extensive remodelling and extension to Mark and Viv
Harris’ home in Colinton; the joint venture I arranged with Kay and Andy
Hunter in converting a six storey townhouse from office use in the central New
Town; as well as several other full townhouse refurbishments for Catherine
Taylor & Robin Parbrook, Tony & Annabelle Larkin, Jim & Connie Walker,
and Peter and Zillah McDonald; and finally the ongoing project in, so far
successfully, steering an awkward path through Historic Scotland for the major
refurbishment and extension of the historically A Listed 16th century Woodhall
House for Martin & Dawn Robertson.

In addition I would like to exchange views on the Edinburgh property market
and the many opportunities that exist, nurtured through well established
relationships with most major estate agents and solicitors; and development
opportunities that may exist through joint venture with my long standing
property development company, Playfair Properties Ltd, with whom I am
currently arranging a flatted mews development through joint venture
partnership with Jim & Connie Walker and Mark & Viv Harris.

Testimonials
Living overseas, with little knowledge of Edinburgh, our concerns
about taking on the project of restoring a property to it’s former
glory as a Georgian townhouse quickly faded thanks to Lorn’s
impressive expertise, efficiency and tolerance. He listened to our
questions and responded with unfaltering good humour and a
friendliness which went beyond the call of duty. As a result, the
whole process was a much happier and successful experience than
expected and we would recommend his services without hesitation.

Kay & Andy Hunter.

Lorn is one of Edinburgh’s leading architects. He and his team
have been excellent in all areas, from design work, to quality of
craftsmanship, to cost control and to the timetable. Doing a project
from Hong Kong is a daunting prospect but Lorn has been very
open, very straight-forward and very patient throughout and I
would have no reservations in recommending him to anyone
considering building, extending or renovating a property in
Scotland.

Mark & Vivienne Harris.

Lorn has long represented the interests of many overseas clients.
What is important to us is the sound level and quality of service his
team have always provided, which is an essential part of the
discerning standards we look to maintain as agents.
